Cebu Food Blogger: With years of K-pop hype and Korean tourists coming in to our Philippine archipelago, it is vehement to see Korean establishments sprouting like mushrooms in our Visayan metropolis. One latest addition is the opening of an original Korean franchise coffee house, Tom N Toms Coffee at the Greenery. This establishment is open 24 hrs daily. Coffeeholics and pretzel-lovers will surely get enthusiastic with this news. Of course, the coffee chain has more to offer from teas, smoothies to pastries.

Cebu Food Crawl Treasure Hunt at Ayala Center Cebu

4th Day (Final Stop)

After raging our competitive spirits with Cebu City Marriott's surprise activity for all participating food crawlers, we then walk our way out to a connecting food escapade in Ayala Center Cebu. We had a minifood crawl at the different restaurants in Ayala Terraces. We were subdivided into four groups. My team is Blue. And I believe we have accepted the challenge with  a full stomach.

This is our "passport" to get to the next restaurant.

Cebu Food Crawl Rico's Lechon Mactan Promenade

4th Day (first stop)

With an early call time, we don't mind. Who else won't get excited for lechon? And it's not just any lechon in Cebu, it's the Rico's Lechon!

We visited Rico's new commissary in Talamban, a large lechon pit that could cater more customers to keep up with their skyrocketing orders each day. We were so delighted to be guests during the blessing of it.

So let me give you a few snap shots of the place. But I can't a promise a 360 degree view of it.

Cebu Food Crawl 2016 - District on 53rd

Cebu Food Crawl District on 53rd

3rd Day (fourth stop)

Cebu Food Blogger:  After a very long drive from Mactan, we headed back to the city for a flirtatious pre-dinner treat at District on 53rd with their best of the best dishes they have out of their 53 menus.

As a welcome drink, we are having this refreshment called the Watermelon Daiquiri
It's actually made of rum as its main alcohol ingredient and watermelons.

And as an appetizer, we have this District Sungka composed of homemade chips, turmeric bread with four kinds of dip. I have to warn you, this is not part of their menu. So you may not be able to order this.

Cebu Food Crawl 2016 - Cafe Jasmin and their Freshly Roasted Coffee

Cebu Food Crawl Cafe Jasmin

2nd Day (second stop)

Let me tell you about this certain coffee, pastry and dessert haven situated  nearly at the heart of Cebu. I thought that this place called Cafe Jasmin is underrated and really deserves more exposure. I've been to numerous coffee shops in Central Visayas, the whole Philippine archipelago or maybe, the world, but this charming little cafe serves really good and freshly roasted coffee with various selection of delectable sweets that makes you reminisce home far away. You'll miss your mother when you take the first sip of that cup with aromatic coffee. That's how it affects me.

It's my second time to visit Cafe Jasmin and it feels like I have my own space where I can just be myself while scribbling my pad with my plans for the future. That's how quaint the place is. And if you're an artist, this is a good nook for you to get an inspiration or perhaps, contemplate on how to hone your craft. It's like that attic at home that you often visit every time you need a dose of your own medicine. All you need to bring is a cup of coffee, your favorite comfort food and voila, "me" time mode is switched on.

Cebu Food Crawl 2016 - Featuring Philippine Mangoes (the sweetest)

Cebu Food Crawl Profood Gallery Mango Museum and Factory Tour

2nd Day (first stop)

With an early call time around 6:45 AM, I skipped breakfast at home and took with me a pack of crackers (sky flakes) in a taxi cab on my way to IT Park, our assembly area. But I can't fathom my hunger so I ordered a breakfast meal at the famous Jollibee while waiting for my fellow foodies.

Days prior, I have thought not joining the mango tour due to its early time schedule but I gave in anyway and didn't expect much until I was in the vicinity of 18 hectares of the mango factory -- I learned how mangoes and other fruits products are processed fresh from the farm and sold to various markets worldwide.

Profood International Corporation with its main headquarters and processing plants in Cebu (specifically in Mandaue City) gave us a group tour in the morning and we were so privileged for the opportunity to check various plants. Aside from Central Visayas, Profood has offices and plants strategically situated in different parts of the Philippines like in Bulacan, Ilo-ilo and Davao.

There's an entrance fee of Php 200 per head for a group of 25 excursionists (minimum no. to get a factory tour). Ours is waived and we are so thankful for that.

Philippine Mangoes (Carabao mango variety) are considered to be the best and sweetest mangoes in the world according to the 1995 edition of the Guinness Book of World Record. The country is also known for its various tropical fruits like coconut, pineapple, soursop (Guyabano), Banana, Papaya, jackfruit and a lot more.

Profood has almost everything in preserving fruits the natural and economical way from different products like dried fruits, puree, canned juices, preserves, puddings, jellies, sauces, frozen fruits or known as Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) and etc. They own a number of brands like Philippine brand, Cebu brand, Grace brand, Company J, Tampico and a lot more.

Cebu Food Crawl 2016 - Marco Polo Plaza Cebu

Cebu Food Crawl Marco Polo Plaza Cebu

1st Day (last stop)

After battling the ridiculous traffic from the Old bridge of Mactan passing down to Mandaue City while we head to Cebu City's Marco Polo Plaza, a rich and sumptuous fancy meal in a five-star hotel marked a good final food destination for the day. We had our dinner reception at El Viento Restaurant and Pool Bar. Guests were serenaded by a live band entertainment to prepare everyone into a dining mood in an al fresco setting.

A lot of people would be hesitant to partake in a meal in a classic five-star hotel thinking it would be pricey. But no, one thing I've discovered is that prices on their menu are really affordable or parallel to that of restaurants in the city. Having lunch or dinner at the poolside could add to the luxury-feel when having dates or group dining but knowing the rates on the card won't hurt your pocket, it will be an ace if you caught yourself living like the elites do (sssshhhhhh)... that's our secret.

On our third and final stop, it is where we showcased our new accessory to enhance our food porn goals. We brought our RING LIGHT tool to make sure food is captured at its best presentation. Thus, having nice quality photos even when mr. sun no longer shines.

Since our theme during the Cebu Food Crawl 2016 is "Destination Food", we were served with some of the finest Filipino cuisines in which filled our tummies with delight.

Here are some snapshots I took when in El Viento Restaurant:

Sizzling Sisig

This Pinoy staple that's common in resto and beer bars actually captured my taste buds and thought it's my favorite among the sizzlers. Price at Php 185.00 only.

Sizzling Gambas
For a price of Php 345.00, it's a bit pricey for me but the shrimps are tender though.

Sizzling Squid
The squid meat is also soft and tender and it's perfectly marinated before it's grilled and sizzled with a special sauce concoction. The price is Php 395. What do you think?

Buttered Vegetables
For the price of Php 60, this platter of healthy greens and orange is definitely way affordable. I think you should order this too when you dine at the poolside.

Sizzling Beef Tips
Oh, I love this! This sizzler is flavorful and made love with my palate. And it's only Php 265! I would recommend you take this.

Atchara
I'm biased that I loved my mom's version of it. This one got some raisins. Taste is really subtle, not too sour. Just a perfect appetizer for me. It's only Php 30.

A flat lay of dishes
Customized Text bibs
What a playful thought from Marco Polo Plaza Cebu with these customized bibs with printed texts.  It's like adding a pinch of seasoning to our dining experience. I guess, you should experience it too.

Below is a video where you can see our Cebu Food Crawl tool for our light enhancements during the night.
